IRON MAIDEN: 30 años de "666"

Corría el año 1982, tal día como hoy, cuando unos heavys procedentes de Reino Unido que se hacían llamar Iron Maiden sacaban a la luz su tercer álbum de estudio con el que saltaría a la fama Bruce Dickinson: “The Number Of The Beast” ...

Quizá por aquél entonces aquellos jóvenes con greñas no eran conscientes del éxito que supondría su álbum compuesto por ocho temas inéditos, hasta que les anunciaron que habían alcanzado el primer puesto en las listas de venta de su país.

Su estética, las imágenes “agresivas” de los discos y la temática de sus canciones causaron gran controversia, sobre todo en el mundo religioso,  lo que inició las acusaciones de satanismo hacia el grupo y las consiguientes manifestaciones en contra de la banda que se llevaron a cabo a lo largo de su gira. Estas acusaciones se han mantenido en el mundo del heavy metal a lo largo de los años, aún en la actualidad… Pero lo que no imaginaban ambas partes es que este hecho no sería sino una gran publicidad gratuita hacia el grupo, consiguiendo que sus seguidores aumentasen exponencialmente hasta nuestros días.

Sin duda, el camino no fue fácil; si han llegado a ser lo que son no es precisamente por grandes ayudas. Hay que tener en cuenta que los medios de comunicación por aquél entonces no les sirvieron de apoyo, todo lo contrario, se inclinaron hacia el lado opuesto y dieron la espalda a la agrupación, pero esto no les impidió que el boca a boca consiguiese lo que hoy conocemos de ellos.

Con el tiempo la banda pasó a formar parte del panorama mundial, ganándose su fama y renombre a costa de demostrar sobre los escenarios lo que 36 años después de que diesen su primer concierto (1976) siguen ofreciendo en sus espectáculos.

Porque, una cosa tengo clara: puede que sean o no seguidores del grupo, pero hay dos hechos que son irrefutables: que son grandes músicos, y que asistir a uno de sus conciertos significa asistir a un auténtico espectáculo.
